Alter Ego kit, all you need to dye devore' blended fibres such as silk rayon velvet or silk rayon satin.
Includes 3 x 50ml bottles of Classique steam fix dye, 3 x 50ml bottles of Alter Ego dye for cellulosic fibres, vinegar, fixative, pipette and 2 measuring cups
for 25-35g of dry fibre (about 55x55cm velvet scarf, burned out a bit, say 70% viscose 30% silk) you need :
20 ml Alter Ego colour, 10 ml Classique colour, 12 drops of fixative, 6 drops of white vinegar and 10 ml of rock salt, 1 litre of water
for 25-35g of dry fibre (about 55x55cm velvet scarf, quite burned out, say 50% viscose 50% silk) you need :
14 ml Alter Ego colour, 20 ml Classique colour, 6 drops of fixative, 6 drops of white vinegar and 10 ml of rock salt, 1 litre of water
Place the dye, salt, vinegar and fixative in a 1 Litre pot and heat slowly. Insert washed and wrung out devore fabric, increase the temperature to a simmer, and simmer for 20 minutes. Turn off the heat and let sit for 10 minutes. For even results, gently agitate the fabric so that all the fabric is exposed to the dye evenly. Rinse the fabric with cold water, wash in warm soapy water and then roll in a towel to remove excess moisture. Line dry in the shade. For a flat finish iron the front, for a fluffy finish, place in the dryer at low temperature when it is just about dry.
